Pediatricians

Dr. Heidi Angeles was born in the Philippines where she finished medical school and her first Pediatric residency. She moved to Calgary in the early 2000s and did another residency in Pediatrics at the University of Alberta, Stollery Children’s Hospital in Edmonton.

Apart from seeing her patients at Safari Pediatrics, she provides newborn care at South Health Campus and Foothills Medical Centre. She is also actively involved with the University of Calgary Department of Pediatrics Residency Training Program as part of the Competency Committee. She likes to teach trainees and makes sure they always see the “bigger picture.”

She loves to travel with her family and likes to try different dishes from all over the world and is an absolute foodie. She also spends a lot time cuddling with her little furry baby,
Tofu.

Dr. Forbes was born and raised in Alberta, almost entirely in Calgary. She completed medical school at the University of Calgary and her residency training as a Pediatrician in Edmonton.

Family and friends drew her back to Calgary where she has been practicing Community Pediatrics since 2012. In addition to working at Safari Pediatrics, she cares for newborns at South Health Campus Hospital, and has the privilege of teaching residents and medical students in multiple settings. She also currently serves as the Section Chief of Community Pediatrics.

Outside of the clinic or hospital, Dr. Forbes might be spotted hiking in the mountains or running on pathways and trails. At home, she’s probably curled up with her 3-legged lab, Molly and a good book. And while she really does eat all her vegetables, if she could, she’d simply live off of chocolate.

He was born in a small village in South Africa, but his family had to leave there due to political reasons, and settled in Dublin, Ireland where he went to high school. He started med school after high school, and graduated in Medicine from Trinity College Dublin.

After a year of general internship at St James’ Hospital, Dublin, he moved to Calgary to start his Pediatric Residency. During residency he was appointed chief resident for one year and then teaching fellow. After finishing residency, he completed a 2 year fellowship in Behavioral and Developmental Pediatrics. After completion of his fellowship he started his community Pediatric Practice with Dr Heidi Schroter, and which is now the Safari Pediatric Clinic. He has a general Pediatric practice with a focus on Developmental Pediatrics. While also working in the in patient units at Alberta Children’s Hospital and the then Calgary General Hospital,( now Peter Lougheed Centre), including the NICU at PLC. he also consulted to the Hearing Clinic, and the Cleft Lip and Palate Clinic at ACH. With others he developed the Behavioral and Developmental Clinic originally at the PLC, and then moved to community until its closure after about 20 years of providing service. He also consulted at the COPE ( Community Outreach with Pediatrics/Psychiatry and Education) program where students were assessed in schools with a multidisciplinary team including school personnel, and with parents. He also initiated the Pediatric consulting program for the Calgary Refugee clinic, where he continues to consult. Administratively, he was Head of Pediatrics at PLC and also medical lead for the Section of Pediatrics. He has presented at many conferences locally and nationally covering a broad range of pediatric topics. His most recent co presentation was in 2025 at the International Refugee Health Conference held in Halifax.
He enjoys teaching all learners.

He enjoys travelling abroad and within Canada. Canada has so many wonderful travel destinations from coast to coast to coast. His most memorable trips in Canada: trying to find the Spirit Bear in Klemtu and seeing the Northen Lights in Yellowknife in -32C weather!! He enjoys wildlife and nature photography and most importantly being with his family and especially his two grandchildren.

Dr. Lockhart was born in Ontario and completed his Undergraduate and Masters at the University of Western Ontario, subsequently completing his medical training at Queens University. He moved to Alberta for Pediatric Residency here in Calgary.

Dr. Lockhart continues to practice as a faculty member at UofC and frequently on Vancouver Island through UVic/UBC, filling in hospital pediatric shortages in Western Canada. He is the recipient of multiple teaching awards in both provinces.

When not working, he enjoys downhill and cross country skiing, hiking, cycling and is an avid traveler.

Dr. Wainer was born and trained as a paediatrician in South Africa. He moved to Canada in the early ‘90s and has been with the Children’s Health Clinic since 1995.

Dr. Wainer worked at the Alberta Children’s Hospital and Peter Lougheed Centre for many years. He was Section Chief of Community Paediatrics for over 10 years and was also awarded Clinical Teacher of the Year in paediatrics. In addition to his work in the clinic he is the medical director of the Calgary Newborn Jaundice program and the medical lead of the Paediatrics for Kids in Care program. Dr. Wainer feels privileged to work with the children and parents he sees in clinic.

When not working Dr Wainer enjoys golf, wildlife photography, cycling, swimming, travel and spending time with his family.

Dr. Yeo was born in Nova Scotia and completed medical school at the University of British Columbia, followed by his residency in pediatrics here in Calgary. During his residency training, he served as Chief Resident and developed a special interest in medical education.

He has been the recipient of multiple teaching awards and looks forward to continuing to work with medical students and residents in his practice.

Outside of work, Jordan enjoys traveling, hiking, and skiing. He is also a foodie who spends most of his free time exploring new cuisines around the city and in his own kitchen. Finally, he is an avid video gamer and will happily challenge any of his patients to a round of Mario Kart (as long as it doesn’t exceed their maximum daily screen time limits).
